For more than four decades, Joseph Keating developed and built quality homes boasting exceptional value throughout Chicago and the suburbs.

As the founder and president of Keating Development -- a firm he co-owned with sons Kevin and Keith -- Joseph was responsible for all land acquisition matters.

The son of a union tradesman, Joseph demonstrated a strong interest in construction at an early age. In high school and college, he assisted his father in rehabbing apartment buildings and worked as a bricklayer. After college, he entered the Marine Corps. In 1960, Joseph launched a residential concrete and masonry construction company. A few years later, he refocused the business to building homes and apartments and never looked back.

In the early nineties, Joseph recruited Kevin and Keith and created a new residential construction company that would later be renamed Keating Development. Together, the family repositioned the firm and branched successfully into new markets, including downtown Chicago and the suburbs, where Keating Development has built many major subdivisions.

Joseph held a bachelor's degree in business administration from The University of Illinois - Champaign.   When he wasn't spending time with his six children and nine grandchildren, Joseph continued to work on lowering his golf handicap.

Joseph Keating passed away in December 2005. He is greatly missed by his family, friends and coworkers.
